Eugenia Abu is one of Nigeria’s frontline Broadcast journalists winning several awards in the field including the prestigious Nigeria media merit award for best newscaster of the year in 1995. One of Nigeria’s most recognizable faces, Eugenia anchored the National Television News for all of 17 years. A Multimedia Strategist, Columnist, Media Trainer and Consultant, Eugenia rose to the top of her career at the Nigerian Television Authority becoming Executive Director programs disengaging from the Nigerian Television Authority after thirty-four years of meritorious service.

A faculty member of the Africa center for leadership, Centre LSD and a visiting consultant to Bingham university, teaching International broadcasting and specialized reporting, Eugenia is also a consultant to the National Democratic Institute on women and the media. She consults for ECOWAS on Media and peacebuilding during elections across the West African Sub-region and also consults for the NeXT CEO Television summit in Mauritius. She is a judge on the National Maltina Teacher’s award and runs an informal mentorship program where she has trained about 500 youths in the last five years. Eugenia has attended several international conferences across the world and has served on several national and International bodies including the National human rights commission, the Lagos state innovative council, This day Editorial board and Nigeria’s vision 2020 technical committee on the media. She has consulted for the International labor organization, the United Nations and Justice for all among others.

The Eugenia Abu Media center where she is CEO and Managing partner has begun a series of Masterclasses on Public speaking, customer service, broadcasting, report and proposal writing, leadership and creative writing. The center’s intervention is as a result of the gaps noticed in these areas. Targeted at top level executives and management staff, it takes place at the Bon Hotel Abuja with the right ambience and some of the best resource persons in their field to include Mrs. Abu herself. Eugenia Abu believes that mentorship is the unexplored key to fast tracking human development on the African continent. 

In her long and rewarding career, Eugenia has interviewed top level personalities including Presidents and Nobel laureates. Her portfolio includes President Ellen Sirleaf Johnson, President Obasanjo, President Yoweri Museveni, Professor Wole Soyinka and Nadine Gordimer among several others.

Mrs. Abu has earned her stripes as a much sought after National and International compere and moderator and was Master of ceremony for the inauguration of Presidents Yaradua and Jonathan and the National compere for President Muhammadu Buhari’s inauguration dinner in 2019.

She lives in Abuja with her family.
