Lanre “The Radio god” Shonubi
If the new media landscape were to be a church, Lanre Shonubi would-be priest. With guts that yearn for stories and an inborn mastery of journalistic tools and methods, Lanre Shonubi makes a living out of information, entertainment and the very stories that make us human.

Perhaps it is credit to him being born in Lagos; Nigeria’s busiest city filled with millions of stories, that has subconsciously trained him to be an ideal representation of its young people’s creativity and bustle. But whatever it is, it led him to kick start his career as a journalist and media personality right from his college, Covenant University in Nigeria.
From the University’s “Hebron FM”, to interning at Lagos’s Inspiration FM, to hosting a YouTube show at Tech City also Hosting and producing the mid-day show on Hot Fm, interviewing all the important names in music at the time including Tems, Yemi Alade, 6lack, 2Baba, Falz, Major League DJz, Stonebwoy et al – and all the way to the United Kingdom, Lanre’s journey so far would easily inspire.
At the moment, his radio production know-how and magical ears for incredible music are being employed at BBC Radio 1xtra; one of the world’s most reputable media houses and so far, the cognoscenti with the team have produced impeccable conversations with Idris Elba, Rema and a host of other names most people alive have heard.

As a music executive, “The Radio god” co-owns Unknown Management Co., a music service outfit that houses uber-talented Yimeeka and Gj the Caesar. He also has spent good time at Outer South label company, seeing to radio promotions, audience development, administration and sync for Tim Lyre, Suté Iwar and Ray the Boffin.
Lanre’s work in music and the amplification of alternative African sounds have earned him multiple recognitions on all levels including the Nigerian Teens Choice Awards and a couple others.
Yet, his more remarkable recognitions have to be those at Birmingham City University where he acquired a Master’s Degree in Media & Radio Production, finishing top of his year.
Above all, excellence drives Lanre. And as his name “Olarenwaju” reads, only wealth (in all its meanings and ramifications) lies ahead of him, even as he continues to contribute his quota towards a happier world, using excellence as his vehicle.
Through media, the youth have the power to amplify their voices and inspire change."
